Matteo Berrettini Signs with IMG and IMG Models, What Lies Ahead for the Tennis Star

Matteo Berrettini Signs with IMG and IMG Models, Partners with Saudi Arabia’s PIF
Matteo Berrettini, the former Wimbledon finalist and former World No. 6, has announced a new chapter in his career by signing with IMG for both his tennis and off-court endeavors. The 28-year-old Italian has switched agencies from LJ Sports Group, the agency co-owned by former Top 5 player Ivan Ljubicic, to IMG, one of the leading global agencies in sports and entertainment.
In addition to this major change in his representation, Berrettini will also be represented by IMG Models, further expanding his brand beyond the tennis court. This marks an exciting new phase for Berrettini, who has long been known for his stylish appearance and was previously the face of luxury fashion house Hugo Boss.
Berrettini’s announcement was made public via social media, where he expressed his excitement about the new partnership. “I’m looking forward to the next chapter and I’m excited about the opportunities ahead with IMG,” Berrettini shared. The tennis star has consistently used his off-court persona to build a significant following, and his new partnership with IMG Models aims to tap into his potential in fashion and media.
But the news doesn’t stop with agency representation. Berrettini has also signed a high-profile deal with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) as a tennis ambassador. The partnership reflects the growing interest in tennis from the Middle Eastern country, which has been making significant investments in the sport in recent years. Saudi Arabia has already secured naming rights for the ATP and WTA rankings, in addition to agreeing to host the year-end WTA Finals in 2024.
Berrettini shared his thoughts on this new partnership with the PIF, saying, “Partnerships are everything in tennis. A great partnership is built on shared values and shared goals.” This collaboration aligns with the kingdom’s broader ambitions to elevate tennis in the region and inspire the next generation of players.
The Italian player’s new role with the PIF will also include contributing to the growth of tennis, particularly in Saudi Arabia, where the sport is expected to see a surge in popularity. Berrettini, who helped Italy secure its second consecutive Davis Cup title in 2024 alongside Jannik Sinner, is eager to take on the responsibility of inspiring younger generations in the kingdom. “One of my roles is to inspire the next generation, the youth, the kids. Together with the PIF, I’m going to be able to do that. This is one of the greatest things I can do,” he added.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season, Berrettini is set to compete in the Brisbane International, starting on December 30. He will join a star-studded field, including Novak Djokovic, Grigor Dimitrov, Holger Rune, Frances Tiafoe, and Nick Kyrgios. This will mark the beginning of his new season, which will be closely watched as Berrettini looks to bounce back from a challenging 2024 and push for another major title.
Berrettini’s decision to partner with IMG and IMG Models, combined with his ambassadorial role with the PIF, shows his evolving role as both a top tennis player and a brand ambassador. As he moves into 2025, all eyes will be on Berrettini as he continues to expand his influence both on and off the court.
