Was the Fight Signed but Canceled at the Last Minute?

Jake Paul revealed that Canelo Alvarez had signed a contract to fight him, and the match was supposed to be announced on February 11. However, the Mexican champion changed his mind, opting instead to sign a four-fight deal with Turki Al-Sheikh rather than face Paul.

Not stopping there, Paul posted an image of the signed contract, proving that Canelo had agreed to fight but then turned his back to fight Terence Crawford—a much smaller fighter—rather than accepting the challenge from David Benavidez.

Was Canelo “Bought Off” with Hundreds of Millions?

Jake Paul didn’t hesitate to accuse Canelo of being swayed by money and power, claiming that the boxing icon accepted hundreds of millions of dollars from Saudi Arabia to avoid their mega showdown—a fight that could have generated massive revenue on Netflix and pay-per-view, thanks to Paul’s enormous fan base.

Additionally, Paul criticized Canelo for hosting his fight in Saudi Arabia instead of Mexico, suggesting that this was a betrayal of his home fans.

“I promise you one thing, Canelo. No matter what fight you take this year, mine will be bigger,” Paul declared provocatively.

So far, Canelo Alvarez has not responded to Jake Paul’s accusations. However, this war of words is far from over and is sure to keep the boxing world buzzing in the coming weeks!
